At the Peshtigo School District Board meeting on Wednesday November 9th the Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce was honored for the recognition of our partnership with our public school, our students, and our community.

In the presence of the Peshtigo School Board and the attending public, school superintendent Patrick Rau presented the Wisconsin Association of School Boards 2022 Business Honor Roll award citation, along with a beautiful award recognition trophy created by the Peshtigo School STEM students.

The citation reads-

“The Peshtigo Chamber of Commerce has assisted students in our community by creating, sponsoring and planning the Peshtigo Community Career Expo. The first event was held in 2020 and has since became a biennial event. In coordinating with our academic and career planning counselor students rotate through sectionals based on their career interests to listen to and learn from local experts in the represented field. Students will also visit with local representatives from manufacturing, post-secondary institutions, health care, community services, military, civic groups, etc. in a traditional career fair model. Additionally, the Chamber partnered with the district for the purchase and installation of an ADA-accessible kayak launch that provides safe access for our students and community members into the Peshtigo River with their kayak. Annually, the Chamber also provides two scholarships to graduating seniors who are pursuing a degree in business, manufacturing, nursing or entrepreneurship.”

Our chamber membership is comprised of area businesses, manufacturers, civic organizations, educational institutions, local government, and individuals. Without the generous support of our membership, as well as our community, we would have not been able to accomplish what has been recognized and noted in the WASB citation.

Our chamber goals are simple, promote responsible business development, tourism, and growth in the overall best interest of the Peshtigo area through services, and representation of the business community.

A special Thank You to the Peshtigo school board, its administration, its staff, and the utmost thanks to our board of directors, Marty Zeske, Sheryl Fugere, Mary Lock, Roberta Davis, Krissy Edgar, Maddie Bohaczek Stibbe, Karen Pluff, Marquita Limberg, Mary Lou Richter, Brian Sabel, and Vice President Melissa DeMoulin and President Tony O’Neill

Truly a “Community Connect” effort by all involved.
