A message from Peshtigo Mayor Katie Berman ——- Spring projects are officially in full swing in Peshtigo 🌷🏡🔨 And I’m truly glad to see it — improvements to homes and businesses are one of the clearest signs that our community is growing and moving forward. Quick reminder from City Hall: please check on building permits and schedule inspections before you start work. I know permits and inspections can feel like an extra step, but they’re there for a reason. This process helps: ✅ keep projects safe for families, tenants, customers, and neighbors ✅ make sure structural, electrical, plumbing, and other work meets code ✅ provide an independent checkpoint (so you’re not relying only on a contractor’s word) ✅ catch problems early — before walls are closed up or issues become expensive to fix ✅ create a record of properly completed work (which can help protect your property value) It also helps prevent delays, fines, or headaches that can come when permits are pulled after work has already started. Common projects that often require permits include new construction/additions, decks/porches/garages/sheds, electrical or plumbing work, HVAC work, and many remodels that change layout or affect safety/egress. If you’re not sure whether your project needs a permit — please call before you begin. It’s always easier to answer questions up front than to correct something later. Finally, permits and completed inspections help the City keep accurate records of improvements happening across Peshtigo — that matters for planning, reporting, and documenting the investment people are making in our community. Building the right way supports the continued growth of Peshtigo. Need help or have questions?
